A Day in the Digital World Screencast

Using a screencast is a great way to educate others about various topics in an interactive way online. By creating a screencast for the topic "Living in A Digital World", I was able to enhance my digital literacy skills as I quickly became fluent with how to create these types of educational materials. For this screencast, I used a program called Jing, which was then uploaded to screencast.com in order to embed the link on this blog page. By exploring these programs, not only was I able to learn about how to use this new tool, I was also able to share information about the digital world with a viewing audience with the hope of educating them on digital citizenship. It is also important to keep in mind that when creating screencasts, one can recycle, edit and recreate information from other authors. Therefore, it is important to remember to be a responsible digital citizen when creating these materials by giving credit to the original authors of information, photos, etc.

Screencast script:
As a person living in a digital world, you may ask: What does mean to be a digital citizen? Advances in technology have allowed us to connect, collaborate, share and create information with friends, family, classmates and colleagues using online and digital tools. However, being a digital citizen is more than simply having access to these tools. It also requires one to learn how to use these tools effectively, which is often referred to as digital literacy. A digital citizen must also uphold their rights and responsibilities, that is, to use these tools in an accountable and appropriate manner. By keeping these things in mind, one can create a positive digital footprint while simultaneously completing personal and professional tasks in the digital world.
